The new dog park is east of the MM Soccer Fields on East Court Ave. The facilities include a 4-acre large dog area, one-half acre small dog area, both completely fenced and several nice amenities to be installed this spring.

The City of Winterset has been working closely with the Friends of the Winterset Dog Park Project Committee for several years. The committee has been very successful in promoting and fundraising. Working for the common good of dog and dog owners in the Winterset area, the committee also assisted the City with establishing operational procedures for the park. They are interested in increasing the awareness of canine good citizenship through social interaction and positive community involvement.

Construction of the Winterset Dog Park began 2017 with site clearing, grading and the initial seeding. Concrete work, fencing and installation of the water service was completed in 2018.  Amenities to be installed this spring include: signage, 2 drinking fountains, benches, waste receptacles, play features, and shade structure. Drainage lines will also be installed in two places this spring. Find us on Facebook through Winterset Dog Park Project or visit the website at
