Reservations for the City Park North, South and Arbor Shelter Houses may be made by phone (515-462-3258) or in person. Shelters can be reserved for a specific amount of time (see chart). Reservations are accepted up to one year in advance. For example, the earliest to make a June 5, 2016 reservation would be Monday, June 8, 2015. Payment shall be made accordingly: LONG-TERM within 30 days of reservation, SHORT-TERM at time of making reservation or within 30 days of shelter use. Refunds are allowed when cancellations are made at least 30 days prior touse. Refund is a CERTIFICATE for your next reservation in the amount that you had paid minus a $5.00 cancellation fee. City Hall office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
North Shelter: $30 (2 hours), $45 (4 hours), $60 (6 hours), $100 (all day).
The North Shelter may accommodate a large group. Facilities include a large 65 x 40 ft. ’open’ area with 20 picnic tables, electrical outlets, fireplace, restrooms and north end portion. A timer switch will automatically turn the lights On/Off for evening use.

- Open OR Enclosed $20 (2 hours), $30 (4 hours), $40 (6 hours, $75 (all day)
Facilities include: 1) Enclosed portion is a completely enclosed 18 x 28 ft. portion with boarded windows that can be opened, fireplace with wood, electrical outlets and five round picnic tables; 2) Open portion is a 30 x 30 ft. area of shelter (open on two sides) which has 9 picnic tables, 4 fireplaces, and electrical outlets. Charcoal grill available for both areas. Restroom facilities are not attached, but located close by. You may reserve the OPEN and /or ENCLOSED portion. The South portion cannot be reserved and is available on a first come – first serve basis. A timer switch will automatically turn the lights On/Off for evening use.
Arbor Shelter: $20 (2 hours), $30 (4 hours), $40 (6 hours), $75 (all day)
Reservation includes both the South and North portions of this 1920’s structure overlooking the hedge maze and covered bridge. Facility includes 4 picnic tables in shelter, electric outlets, 4 more tables and large grill on each patio.
*Fee for weddings and large groups is the all day rate plus $25.
Tobacco Free Park Policy
To promote a healthier park experience, Tobacco use is prohibited by park visitors and park employees on all park grounds and facilities managed by the WPRD with the exception of the City Park Campground. This includes: City Park, Winterset Aquatic Center / Tennis Courts Area, Martin Marietta Softball and Soccer Complexes, Giffin Fields, Memory Lane and Carver Park. This policy extends to any youth or adult activity and includes park shelter houses. For this policy, tobacco use is defined as smoking, chewing, dipping, dissolvable, and lighting or any other use of tobacco-like products. As a reminder signs are posted at park locations.
